Perhaps a quick and easy way to describe urban skating is to say that it is semi aggressive skating mixed with recreational skating around urbanized environment, using it's landscape for tricks, stunts, and aggressive skating maneuvers in long flows, typically with 80 mm wheels and or above.

Several attempts to re-brand and rename urban skating have been done such as but not limited to, flow skating, power blading and narcissistic assault skating.
