A sweepstake is a type of contest where a prize or prizes may be awarded to a winner or winners. At a set time, the winners are drawn at random from a container holding a copy of every number. The drawn tickets are checked against a collection of prizes with numbers attached to them, and the holder of the ticket wins the prize.

To make skating events more interesting a proposing idea of having a sweepstake draw for participating skaters of events has been thought of.

(At this time, the rules and process of the sweepstakes are still being worked out and skaters are being asked for feedback. The implementation of the sweepstake events, is set for 2021)

Process

  • At the end of each completed skating event, skaters will be given a sweepstake ticket that will match a prize.
  • At the end of the month, one sweepstake event will occur and a video will be made of it. The video will then be posted on a video hosting platform such as youtube.
  • Available prizes for the sweepstake will be publicly posted online on a sweepstake web-page. Identified for the period that are valid for.
  • There will be as many draws for the sweepstake event as prizes are available. ie: 2 prizes equals to 2 draws for 2 people. One prize, equals to one draw for one person.
  • Details about the sweepstake draw will be posted publicly online as well as who were the winners.

Rules

  • No money can and or shall be involved in the sweepstake. (No purchase necessary)
  • The sweepstake shall not require purchases or commercial business requirements/obligations. (No element of consideration)
  • Correctly answer a mathematical skill testing question related to skating in order to be eligible to enter and possibly win a prize.
  • Demonstrate required skating skill level in order to be able to participate in the event and be eligible. (powerslide, slalom, jumps, etc). (Pure chance is prohibited)
  • Sweepstake items shall only be donated to be available for the draw.
  • The skating event organizer cannot participate in the sweepstake as a contestant.
  • The sweepstake will always award the prize. The draw will be done from participating numbers according to skill and test demonstrated during the event
  • Any skater that is part of the event in which participation occurred is eligible for the draw.
  • No skater may win more than one prize in the month of the draw.
  • Once a skater wins a prize, that skater is automatically removed from the subsequent draws for that same month. (Draw occurs during the last event of the month).
  • Any skater may choose to give away their draw number to another skater.
  • Any skater can collect as many draw numbers as per event completed. (More skilled events attended equals to higher opportunities to win).
  • To collect the prize, the winner must attend at least one of the next two following events to collect the prize that was won. If the winner misses any of those two following events, the winner loses ownership of the prize and the prize will then be available for a new sweepstake draw for the following month.

Prizes

Sweepstake items must:

  • Be exclusively related to the skating activity (quad skating/inline skating).
  • Be goods only such as: skates, wheels, tools, bearings, protective gear, skates, lubricants, frames, cones, liners, skating clothing, ramps, rails, etc.

Items

A few methods to obtain the goods for prizes have been thought of and they include but not limited to:

  • Sponsorship from someone who will donate the goods that will be the prizes. This will mean that the event will advertise the sponsor.
  • Donated goods by any skater that may have something that is not wanted anymore.
  • Someone built something to skate and gives it away for free. ie: ramp, rail, etc
